Jan 20, 2012
The snow is finally gone. The rain took it away. It's been around 50 for the past 2 days and Non and I are working on getting the patio ceiling insulated. I've been trying to catch up on all my housework. I had a mouse in my kitchen and put down some Decon. By the second day all signs showed he had not returned. So I waited four more days to make it a full week to be sure and then I got rid of the Decon and scrubbed the shelves with bleach and detergent and put down new contact paper and rearranged my kitchen, cleaned out the buffet in the dining area and got rid of a lot of stuff. Then I put most of my things in drawers before I put them onto the shelves again and in the skinny cupboard where the drawers wouldn't fit I put my small appliances. I love the fact that I don't have to get down on my hands and knees and reach over behind stuff any more to get what I need. Should have done this years ago. Eventually I will go through all this again and do a more thorough cleaning out. I figure spring cleaning time for that. Then I will get started on stripping down my cupboards and doing the painting I have been trying to find time to do. Just hope it happens this year. So many things going on. I was so afraid we were going to lose Jo there for awhile, but once I talked to the doctor and he saw Jo as I did, he changed all her meds and she has responded so well it's amazing. She is gaining weight, eating like a champ, writing and reading her mail again and now is asking for pillowcases so she can finish embroidering. I can't explain the difference this has made in my life. I used to dread going there. Now I only have to go there 2-3 times instead of 3-5 times a week. It's been great to finally have some time to do things here. I finally got my ironing, laundry, vacuuming and dusting done and other than a dentist appointment (cleaning) at 11 am, I am free to help Non with the patio. He took the day off so we could finish it. I have been watching all the reports of the flooding in Scio, Jefferson, Turner and parts of Salem and then saw that on Cambridge Circle in Corvallis the flood was so high. That is where my Aunt Lola lived. I am so glad she was not there any more. Her home was so lovely, and flood and mud are so hard to clean. I hear Non getting ready now so I best go fix us some breakfast. Maybe I can remember to post more often now that I am a little more caught up. Jury Duty will be over the end of the month and that will halp, too. God bless.
